The following is a suggestion from the GW-Warmaster email list for a Dwarf army. I don't have the poster's name.

I start my 1000 point army the same way no matter who I'm playing, then modify it:

	1x Commander 155
	1x Runesmith 90
	2x Warriors 220
	2x Scout 220
	1x Handgunners 90
	1x Cannon 90
	1x Flame Cannon 50
	1x Gyro Copter 85
		Break Point:4
		Total: 1000

The layout of the units on the field would depend on what I was doing, attack or defense. I know what you're thinking: -1 Gyrocopter, +1 Trollslayer, +1 Sword of Fate. It could work.

Again I start my 2000 point army the same way no matter who I play, then modify it:

	1x Runesmith + Staff of spell binding 120

The biggest changes I would make depend on who I fight. I would have a go at anyone with this little lot, however if I was defensive I would have more handgunners less magic and no gyrocopter. Look, I use gyro's as an extra 3 dice at -1, and I use them to hit other people commanders to force them to join units I'm about to crush, or to fly behind and disrupt there support. I align my formations like such for a 2000 point formation:

Formation 1:
WWWW|WWWW
SSSS|SSSS *a star will represent which formation has a scout with magic item.

Formation 2:
WWWW - Banner of sheilding (so the trollslayers make it into combat)
TTTT - Sword of Fate (the hero will order this unit, and join the Warriors in times of need)

Formation 3:
CCFFCC - thus flyers contacting the front MUST contact at least one flame cannon, and if I get charged in the flank chances are I will only lose two units. (my cannon and flame have a save :).

Formation 4:
(G) - gyrocopter.

Thus my deployment would look like this at the start of a typical game:

Two Formations of Warriors and Scouts, with Trollys and warriors waiting to burst though, into troops/defended positions, followed by the artilary, the Gyrocopter would hangaround the middle as it does not block LOS, and can provided an extra 3 dice to the scouts on eather side, formation 1 is made to block chariot and horsy flanks whist my other units take out the more undane stuff.
